Mini-review: Grandstream products are generally easier to configure than competitive units. However if something goes wrong you may have no idea why: detailed status and error messages are not provided.

  IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING FIRMWARE - FROM GRANDSTREAM

  Firmware support for versions older than 1.0.6.7 will not ba available starting August 1st, 2005. This applies to HT-286, HT-486 and BT-101/2 models.

  Quality Issues

  • The grandstream ATA devices are extremely unreliable, do not reconnect after power or internet outages, have problems with DTMF and download firmware at each reboot. Before purchasing these devices, DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
  • The GXP2000s have serious issues with registration and are VERY sensitive to electrical interference. Before you purchase these phones, you should order 1 or two devices and try them out.
  • Grandstream's new ticket system is extremely unreliable and if you take more than 30 seconds to write a comment, it logs you off and tells you your ticket might not have been posted
  • If you do not update a ticket within 7 days, they automatically close it. This includes holidays and weekends
  • The money you save on the initial cost of these devices, you'll lose when you lose time trying to get support for the devices
